William Collins Hushing was born on January 22, 1918, in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1939, and advanced through grades to the rank of rear admiral in 1967. Roy Stanley Benson was born on December 7, 1906, in Concord, N.H. He received his commission as ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1929. He advanced to rear admiral in 1956, and was commander of the Submarine Force, Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor from 1960 to 1962. He retired in 1968. Benson died February 7, 1995.
